Refined garden design for homeowners in Norwich, Norfolk

I am a garden designer based in my home city of Norwich, Norfolk. I love the area I grew up in; the beautiful rural landscape, the amazing coastline and the large open skies. This landscape has been at the heart of my design work, I always seek to use light and open sky-scapes with layers of colour, texture and movement. Spacial design is also at the heart of what I do, the best use of an outdoor space will transform how you enjoy your garden and how in makes you feel. A really beautiful, well designed garden will transform your life.

I initially trained in horticulture which lead to working as a gardener on a large private estate in the heart of the Norfolk Broads for several years. This was where my love of plants and expertise in horticulture really developed.

Whilst working as a gardener, I realised the importance of design in outdoor spaces and how good design can transform a garden bringing joy to those that use it. I decided to train to become a garden designer at Writtle University College, Essex.

Once qualified, I worked as Head Designer for several large landscaping firms in the home counties, gradually moving back to Norfolk via a number of wonderful years at Notcutts Landscapes in Woodbridge Suffolk. In 2008 I set up Deakinlock design practice and in 2017, I set up my own design studio as Chris Deakin Garden Design.
